Joe truck was born and raised in New York city in bygone era when wine and women were cheap!! The tattooing journey for Joe began in 1979 when he got his first tattoo from the legendary new york tattooer Don Singer and it was all down hill from there. Many years and tattoos later he would serve a short apprenticeship with Sean Vasquez at East side ink and it was there that Joe met and began getting tattooed by his friend Daniel Higgs. It was thru Dan that he discovered the wonders of what has now became known as “traditional tattooing”..a hodgepodge of sailor, biker, pop and folk art ideas thrown together in what Joe considered to be wondrous ways!! Unfortunately it would be YEARS before New York and the rest of the world would catch up to Dan and Joe’s love of this tattoo genre..(although artists like Scott Harrison, in Chicago at the time, and many san Francisco artists were embracing it.) So Joe slaved away in his underground studio “Alphabet City” working on tribal designs while pushing his love of Sailor Jerry Collins, Bob Shaw and all the other great masters of American tattooing on unsuspecting New Yorkers. Joe is considered by many to be one of the second generation of pioneers of east coast traditional tattooing..(Thom DeVita..we love you!!) and as the new era of tattooing in new york was ushered in with the legalization of tattooing there, Alphabet City was actually the FIRST “legal” street shop open. Joe relocated to California for good in 2004 and now owns ACE OF HEARTS TATTOO SKATE &GALLERY in CARSON,CALIFORNIA. Joe has appeared and or had feature articles in EVERY major TATTOO MAGAZINE and has worked numerous conventions the world over. Besides his trademark TRADITIONAL work, his specialties include: JAPANESE and PORTRAITS !!get in touch for an appointment or just walk in!!!
